American Elderberry

Sambucus canadensis

Fast growing shrub that can thrive in sun or shade. Large umbrella shaped clusters (umbrels) of white flowers can be harvested with pollen to make tea, add herbal flavor notes to food and beverages, or used in making botanical skin care products. Flowers yield large clusters of small blue to black fruits excellent for making pies, jam and elderberry wine. Hardy native plant. Use in background and wildlife plantings.
