Hydrangea arborescens ‘Annabelle’
Smooth hydrangea are the hardiest of the hydrangea species. Annabel has proven successful in many Montana gardens. Does best in partly shaded areas with some protection. Full sun or exposed to wind, plant can suffer from dieback, but usually recovers from the base. Large leaves emerge bright green followed by many medium to large white flower heads in mid-summer. Blooms age to a creamy lime color in late season and are great for drying for indoor arrangements.
